Dr. Cathy Lysack at the Detroit Athletic Club

There are studies that show that remaining active as we age is one of the keys to a healthy life. Dr. Cathy Lysack from Wayne State University has embraced this as she past 50 and joined the prestigious Detroit Athletic Club (DAC). Here she participates in squash and more as she moves gracefully into the new chapter of her life.

The Deputy Director of the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State enjoys not just participating, but competing with not only women but men as well. It is not an uncommon sight to see Dr. Lysack defeating her male competitors.

We had an opportunity to visit with her at the DAC while she was playing a game of squash with her husband. It was clear that she works hard and makes the most of her time outside of the office from her studies of women.

The DAC was established in 1887 and has been recognized as a Platinum Club of America and one of the best places to work for in Michigan. Thanks to Excutive Manager Ted Gillary for arranging our time at the DAC. It was a pleasure to film at one of the Midwest’s most prestigious private clubs.

Dr. Cathy Lysack has embraced aging in a way that more and more women are. Remaining active and pushing yourself to not only take care of your body and health but to have fun doing it.

Her spirit will be an important part of “The Embrace of Aging” series.
