Sue Brayne, British Author
As women enter their mid-life, they experience many changes. British author Sue Brayne not only discusses this in her book, Sex, Meaning and the Menopause, but she has experienced all of it herself. Sue shared with us not just the details of her book, complete with tips for men and women on handling the changes, but she also opened up about her struggles. Her husband recently left her after twelve years of marriage for his ex-wife. She was very honest in saying that it was primarily because of the changes she has gone through due to menopause. It would have been understandable if she didn’t want to discuss her personal life, but she was willing because she believes her story may help other women. It was more than a pleasure for the crew to spend the day with Sue. She met Chaz, my associate producer and myself at our hotel for a lunch meeting and then to Highgate Cemetery. This interview was one of the two on the day that we would do with her. As is the case so often or the road for production do we try and maximize each and every opportunity that we can. You can read about Sue and her book The D Word: Talking about Dying, as well as Highgate Cemetery in the ‘in-production’ section of The Embrace of Dying website.
