Ingrid Sheldon
Facing an aggressive cancer can bring down the strongest of people. Ingrid Sheldon is an individual who said, “Well I have cancer. Lets get through this.” And with the support of her husband Cliff, that is exactly what she is doing.
Ingrid was diagnosed in March this year with breast cancer and by April she had a mastectomy. She is now undergoing chemotherapy under the care of Dr. Anne Schott at University of Michigan Hospital. We were welcomed to follow her on her journey and we accompanied her and Cliff for her fourth treatment.
Modern medical science is a true miracle when you are there to witness it at work. Chemotherapy is very cumbersome for those who have to undergo it. Ingrid has handled this with a beautiful dignity and strength. “I couldn’t do it without the support of Cliff. He loves me for who I am.” She said this as she removed her “cranial prosthesis.”
We thank Ingrid for letting us join her on her journey and she will continue to be a feature in the series for The Embrace of Aging: The Female Perspective. |
