Lola Taubman, Holocaust Survivor
There has been a great deal of research done on holocaust survivors focusing on the area of psychology, wellbeing and attitude and how it affects them later in life.
Lola, born Ilona Goldstein, was swept from a lively childhood in a modest sized community in the Carpathian Mountains of Czechoslovakia into the holocaust.
Lola managed to escape extermination. Sadly, her parents and three brothers all perished in the camps, as did many of her relatives.
Now in her 80’s, Lola shares with us her love of life.
From Lola’s story and her wisdom, we will gain a perspective on just how important a positive attitude is to an aging woman.
We had the rare opportunity to film with Lola and her daughter Ruth at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills. It is here where Lola recounted her teenage years as an Auschwitz survivor. While filming, a tour of middle school students were able to sit in and listen to her story, a true education from one of Michigan's most revered Holocaust survivors |
