Dr. Ken Doka - Afterlife Awareness Conference

Dr. Ken Doka is a Professor of Gerontology at the Graduate School of The College of New Rochelle and Senior Consultant to the Hospice Foundation of America. He is considered to be one of the leading experts in grief consoling not just in the US but the world as well.

In our conversation we discussed the importance of grief for people, the importance of hospice and the growth of the entire hospice movement. He described grieving as healthy. He works closely with hospice workers and others on how to work with those in their care. He mentioned how funny it was that he was not only at a conference like this one where everyone seems to be talking about spirituality and the afterlife but he was also a keynote speaker. His scientific background made him, at least on paper; seem like an odd fit, after speaking with him however it was clear just how great of a fit he was.
